Essence of Connection 013

Sebastian Scherl - Germany

In the research series "essence of connection" the material sugar plays a major possition. With the question: "Where is the human being in his overall social development?", I follow real and fictitious information and put it in a new context. Real data and facts from the sciences of medicine and economy and fictitious information that I get sugar through the process-based work on the materials.
The forms that emerge appear organic, sometimes colorful and lively and then again rigid and dead. Networks, ramifications become visible. An image that shows up again during a walk in nature. Or in the anatomy of the human body. I also see in it a network of systems, perhaps one in which we all live and within which we weave a dense network of relationships.
Everything seems frozen here in the exhibition context and yet a transfer takes place that leads to life and inevitably triggers associations. A snapshot, for example, similar to a CT scan of a brain. Parallels to human life, to growth and decay, can be drawn in this way. So does the disintegration and decomposition of the organism.
Coconut oil is another material used in the work. Below 25 °C it is white and solid. As soon as the temperature rises a few degrees, it becomes liquid and transparent. I am concerned here with making a temperature difference of 1-2 °C visible. "Essence of connection" shows how quickly a minimal increase in temperature can also result in a change in the state of aggregation.
The occupation with "essence of connection" is an exposure of material properties, which, once started, continue to transform. It is the gradual revealing of the impact of certain foods on our consciousness, as well as the rise in the climate of our planet.
