Her Face

YINUO WANG - China

In abstract black and white formations, Her Face distorts the image of my self-portrait, opening the possibility of a different perspective of myself. The painting reflects the transformative movement of the mental and emotional state of human nature. Created during a difficult period in my life, I intuitively allowed my emotions to lead my creative process. The black and white acrylic piece is painted in two layers. Starting with a colourful composition, I allowed my emotions to take over, and as I re-worked the painting, it began to shift into a truthful expression of my painful emotional journey. My explorative approach acknowledges the canvas as a space for contemplation and spiritual healing through spontaneous painting abstractions. This process physically manifests the negative thoughts, memories, and feelings that continuously pass through my mind while the act of painting my face over, expresses the complexity of appearances. Her Face can be a mask that hides, while exposing a distressing image of myself over time. Intertwined with organic elements and abstract lines, the painting mirrors the movements of the temporal nature of the mind. It is an outcome of a captured moment while simultaneously examining interpretations of the psyche; revealing an ever-evolving image of the human experience in reflection of myself.

Thoughts during the painting process:

· Art captures a thought in time.
艺术是思维的定格。

· Abstract art is an image of the mind.
过程即是思维里的艺术。
