A man cuts a slice out of his chest with great concentration. Clothing and background indicate a slaughterhouse, a place where meat is professionally cut up. Of course, the action in the picture (if only for anatomical reasons) is not possible, it becomes a symbol of the destruction of one's own livelihood. Though cutting out of his own body seems utterly pointless, even cruel, the man continues his cut seemingly painlessly, as if he weren't really involved himself, as if he were performing a normal job that he needs to finish.
