The Son of Man

Anna Litwin - Poland

A travesty of the painting by René Magritte "Son of Man". The presented painting is a specific response to the everyday life that today's world serves us. In the routine of carrying out daily duties, we lose our sense of being unique and exceptional, we turn into a product of the production line of consumerism. The original painting by René Magritte encouraged the viewer to want to know what is hidden, to get to know the person, maybe their desires, passion, love, life. The multiplication of the image of a middle-class man, often a careerist, and covering his face with QR codes awakens in us the desire to learn not an individual human creation, but what the code itself conceals. Code that is only a sequence of signal components that seems to be necessary today for proper functioning in society.

So who are we without it?
